MEET THE TEAM

David Odell, Co-Founder
For David, being on the water isn’t just recreation, it’s freedom. Nothing else matters when he’s out there with his wife and daughter, and that connection to the water (and the One who made it) is what drew him to the marine industry in the first place. Weekends? You’ll find him on the boat. Every single time.
David’s role at Deck Armor is what he calls “chaos coordinator,” and he means it. People think deck coating is straightforward, but every boat is different and requires a custom approach. He’s most proud of a 23’ Dorado project that tested every ounce of patience he had. Fourteen hatches, long thin runs, extremely difficult and time-consuming. The final product was worth it. David cares about each boat like it’s his own, which occasionally means sitting quietly while couples “aggressively discuss” color choices until they reach a compromise.
Outside of boats, David nerds out hard on Star Wars. He runs on caffeine (coffee, energy drinks, yes please to both). If he weren’t doing this, he’d be managing a boat dealership or marina, because let’s be honest, the man can’t stay away from the water.

Justin Jones, Co-Founder
A Florida native born and raised in Dunedin, Justin grew up on the Dunedin Causeway with salt water in his veins. His passion for the marine industry runs deep, rooted in childhood memories of walking the beaches with his Abuela, spending countless hours on the north end of Clearwater Beach in the Mandalay area. There’s something about being on the water that calms him, and while he doesn’t get out boating as much as he’d like, it’s where he feels most at peace when he does.
Justin came to the deck coating industry looking for diversification from traditional construction, and he’s most proud of being part of Deck Armor’s launch from the ground up. His role? Strategy. He’s the guy thinking three steps ahead, figuring out how to get customers the options they didn’t even know were available. Outside of business (he runs several), Justin’s priorities are clear: church first, family time second. Weekends are sacred. He’s surprisingly nerdy about marketing, enjoys a good steak, and runs on Cuban coffee. If you catch him telling stories about the weirdest problems he’s solved, they’ll probably involve staff situations you wouldn’t believe.

Brad Fink, Shop Manager
Our shop manager Brad is glued to boats (no pun intended). If it floats, he wants to work on it or customize it. Ask him about a project he’s most proud of and he’ll probably mention Captain Josh Meyer’s 23’ Dorado, but honestly, he’s proud of every boat that leaves the Deck Armor shop. The weirdest challenge at the shop? Logos. They’re all tricky in their own way because there’s no practice with custom inlays. When asked what he wished customers knew before starting a Deck Armor project, he said two things: what color their wife would approve of beforehand & that Deck Armor is locally / military owned and operated.
Outside the shop, you’ll find Brad wrenching on something, firing up the grill with neighbors, or drinking ice cold Coors Banquets at the local short track on Saturday nights. But that’s not his only hobby; He’s surprisingly nerdy about marine biology, specifically freshwater ecosystems. He even has a 75 gallon tank stocked with a bluegill, Florida native forage fish, and a crawfish. Brad runs on water, loves fishing, and if he weren’t coating boat decks? He’d be pressure washing. The man just loves water.

Eric Riopelle, Lead Installer
Eric joined the Deck Armor team in November 2025 as Lead Installer, bringing a sharp eye for detail and a commitment to craftsmanship that’s already making an impact. His passion for the marine industry runs deep, rooted in childhood fishing trips with his grandfather and uncle. He still remembers his first time fishing as a kid at Jules Verne Park in Tampa off Bayshore, a moment captured in a photo that still pops up in family albums. Some of his best memories were made on a boat or by the water with family and friends, and that connection to the water drives his work today.
Eric’s most recent project pride is a Shoalwater 23′ catamaran that showcased everything he loves about this work. It was technically challenging enough to stay engaging, and the final result was nothing short of stunning. For Eric, the appeal of Deck Armor is simple: he gets to combine creativity with craftsmanship, taking genuine pride in each completed project regardless of the obstacles faced along the way.
Eric wants customers to understand that Deck Armor installations require significantly more skill and effort than they might appear. This isn’t EVA foam or carpet. It’s physically demanding and mentally intensive work that looks seamless because the team has invested heavily in mastering every aspect of the process. The team has built expertise that allows them to work efficiently while maintaining exacting standards.
Outside the shop, Eric is an avid gamer and has a particular fondness for fantasy audiobooks. He’s fueled by coffee and energy drinks (cheers to that!). When he’s not working or gaming, you might find him people watching in busy public spaces, simply observing the rhythm of daily life. His backup career choices? Either pressure washing or sales, even selling fancy shoes.
