ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA
Boat Decking St. Petersburg Can Count On
At Deck Armor we specialize in marine-grade rubber flooring for boats, docks, ramps, and waterfront platforms across St. Petersburg. Custom-cut, slip-resistant, UV-stable, and built for how St. Pete actually boats. Whether you fish offshore out of Maximo Marina, sail Tampa Bay from the Municipal Marina, run flats in Boca Ciega, or cruise Lake Maggiore on a pontoon, we cover all of it from our Tampa Bay shop. Same-day quotes. One-day installs at your slip.
The Sunshine City problem
St. Petersburg averages 245-plus sunny days a year. That’s not a tourism number, it’s the design constraint your boat’s flooring fails on. Most EVA foam and carpet-backed decking is rated for far less UV than St. Pete delivers in a single summer. Our rubber stays 30 degrees cooler underfoot, doesn’t chalk or fade after a season of glare, holds grip when wet with salt from three different bodies of water, and wipes clean with a hose. No drilling, no permanent adhesive, no gel-coat damage if you ever sell.

Three Waters, Three Sets of Conditions
St. Pete sits between three different bodies of water. Each one beats up boat floors differently. Our material is one of the few that holds up across all three.
Tampa Bay (east side)
Big-fetch chop and heavy salt spray. Boats based at the Municipal Marina, Harborage at Bayboro, or Salt Creek deal with constant salt mist plus the pounding that loosens cheap deck adhesives.
Boca Ciega Bay (west side)
Shallower water, hotter sand flats. The flats and bay-boat market. Maximo, Pasadena, and Bay Pines launch into Boca Ciega. The biggest enemy here is sun reflecting off shallow water back up at your floor.
Gulf of Mexico (out the pass)
Anyone running John’s Pass, Pass-a-Grille, or south through the Skyway for offshore fishing or Egmont Key day-trips gets the full UV-and-salt treatment. This is where SeaDek and EVA foam fail first, and where our rubber compound was engineered to win.
Boats We Outfit in St. Petersburg
St. Pete has more boating variety per capita than any city on the Gulf. We’ve cut flooring for all of it:
Offshore center consoles
Yellowfin, Sea Vee, Contender, Regulator, Pursuit. 28′ to 38′ tournament boats running out of Maximo, Pasadena, and Tierra Verde. Cockpit floors, casting decks, leaning-post platforms, livewell lids.
Flats and bay boats
Pathfinder, Hewes, Maverick, Sterling, East Cape. Poling Boca Ciega or fishing the back bays. Full deck coverage with custom poling-platform pads and hatch-lid matches.
Sailboats
Catalina, Hunter, Beneteau, Tartan. The Municipal Marina has one of Florida’s biggest sailing fleets. Cockpit soles, side decks, companionway steps, swim-step replacements.
Pontoons and deck boats
Bennington, Harris, Manitou. Lake Maggiore is full of them. Wall-to-wall floor coverage with custom-cut hatch matches and helm-station pads.
Sportfish and cabin cruisers
Cockpit, mezzanine, swim-platform, forward-deck. Common at Harborage and the Skyway Marina District.

Why a local crew matters
A marine flooring install is more than a measurement and a cut. It’s a relationship with whoever has to honor the warranty, touch up a corner that lifts, or come back the following season when you add a new accessory. We’re a phone call and a 25-minute drive from St. Pete. If something needs attention after install, we’re at your dock the same week. That’s hard to get from an out-of-state online kit or a one-off installer working out of a van.
Common Questions From St. Pete Boaters
Real questions we get from St. Pete-area boaters before they book an install. If you don’t see yours here, call (813) 434-0395 or request a quote and we’ll answer it directly.
How long does a marine flooring install take in St. Petersburg?
Most Deck Armor installs are completed in a single day. Larger sportfish or full-coverage pontoon jobs may take two days. We come to your St. Pete slip or you can drop the boat at our Tampa shop, 25 minutes across the Howard Frankland.
How much does Deck Armor marine flooring cost?
Pricing depends on boat size and how much of the deck you want covered. A small flats skiff casting-deck job is significantly less than a full-coverage 32 foot center console. We give a free, exact quote in 24 hours once we know your boat make, model, and coverage scope.
How is Deck Armor different from SeaDek?
Deck Armor is a custom-cut marine-grade rubber, not EVA foam like SeaDek. Rubber stays grippy when wet, doesn’t dent under tackle drops, holds color through Florida UV, and lasts longer than EVA in our experience. EVA is lighter and softer underfoot at first, but it fades, gets brittle, and shows wear within one or two Florida summers.
Will Deck Armor flooring damage my gel coat?
No. We use no drilling and no permanent adhesives. The flooring is bonded with a marine adhesive layer that removes cleanly if you ever sell the boat or change the floor. The gel coat underneath is protected, not altered.
What colors and textures are available?
We stock six colors: charcoal grey, coconut cream, pampas ivory, aquamarine blue, sky blue, and virgin black. Each color is available in fine grain or coarse grain texture. You can see all swatches and order samples from the Deck Armor shop page.
How long does Deck Armor marine flooring last?
Properly installed Deck Armor rubber flooring routinely lasts 8 to 10 years in Florida conditions. UV-stable rubber compound resists chalking and fading, and the bonded install does not lift from heat cycling like adhesive-back foam often does.
Can I install Deck Armor flooring myself?
We do not sell DIY install kits. Every Deck Armor floor is custom-templated to a specific boat for a precise fit, then installed by our crew. This is what allows the seamless edges along gunnels and around hatches that prevent water intrusion and lifting over time.
Do you install at the marina, or do I have to bring the boat to you?
Both work. We come directly to your slip at any St. Pete marina, including Maximo, Municipal, Harborage at Bayboro, Salt Creek, Pasadena, and Tierra Verde. If you prefer to trailer the boat to our Tampa shop for the day, that’s also an option.
Will Deck Armor flooring work on a pontoon boat?
Yes. Pontoons are one of our most-installed boat types in the Tampa Bay area, especially on Lake Maggiore. We do wall-to-wall coverage with custom-cut hatch matches and a separate helm-station pad. Color usually matches the boat’s upholstery.
Is rubber flooring better than EVA foam for Florida?
For Florida heat and UV, rubber outperforms EVA foam. Rubber runs cooler underfoot, is more puncture-resistant, does not absorb water, and holds color through years of direct sun. EVA is closed-cell foam that’s lighter and softer at first but degrades faster in our climate.
What’s the warranty on Deck Armor marine flooring?
Deck Armor flooring is covered against UV degradation, peel, and color change under the manufacturer’s warranty. If a covered issue ever comes up, we handle the warranty claim and the touch-up. You don’t deal with the manufacturer directly.
Do you offer custom logos, names, or inlays in the flooring?
Yes. We do boat names, hailing ports, brand inlays, and custom logos cut directly into the floor. This is a common request from offshore tournament boats and charter operators. Custom inlay options are quoted alongside the base install.
